Kankor exam

How Pakistani Students Can Study For Kankor Test?

The Kankor test is an entrance test for the medical and nonmedical fields in Afghanistan. Students appear in it after clearing 12 years of education. It mostly contains a mathematics portion, and mathematics is not available in the intermediate pre-medical courses in Pakistan. So, how Pakistani students can study for Kankor test?

I am also a Pakistani student studying in Nangarhar Medical Faculty on a fully funded scholarship ( Check out how to apply Fully Funded MD Scholarship In Afghanistan For Pakistani Students). So, I will share my own experience of how I qualified it easily and what strategies I followed. So lets get start.

What is a Kankor test?

Every country has its own entrance test. Just like Pakistan has the MDCAT test, Afghanistan has a Kankor test. After clearing the Kankor test, you have the choice to go to your desired field, such as medical, economics, computer science, etc. It contains about eight subjects, but we will focus on important ones.

The Kankor test consists of 160 MCQs, which are divided like this,

  • Mathematics 60
  • Biology 20
  • Chemistry 20
  • Physics 20
  • Islamyiat 10
  • G.K 10
  • History 10
  • Geography 10

Mathematics

As we pakistani students do not study maths after 10th. So it become a headche for us to cover such major portion in the Kankor test. But do not worry, it is same for all pakistani students and you have to compete with them not with afghanistan students.

So how to prepare it? If you want to repeat a year for MDCAT, then start the maths tuition along with your MDCAT studies. You will have a complete year to prepare for it as Kankor test mostly happen in July.

Do you need to study matric maths? No, most of the MCQs are from the intermediate level, so go for it. First, cover the easy topics and then go for the difficult ones. You can also check out the Kankor test past papers for a better experience.

Chemistry

Chemisty has a total of 20 MCQs in the test. The MCQs are easy and not that tricky, like MDCAT. Most of the portion is covered by Organic and inorganic chemistry from class 12th. So study it very deeply.

Biology

The biology portion also consists of 20 MCQs. The MCQs are easy and to the point. Most of the MCQs are related to zoology, but biology is an easy part, so to get 20 out of 20, give a read to complete biology of classes 11th and 12th.

Physics

Physics is a difficult subject to handle in MDCAT. But the good part is that Kankor test MCQs are not that tricky. You just need to learn simple formulas. Some MCQs are easy, like finding K.E. by just putting the simple values in the K.E. formula.

Islamyiat

Do not study to do an extra study for it. Mcqs are from the Quran ayat. You have to find the meaning of a word from the Qurani Ayat.

Ignore the other parts, like history, general knowledge, and geography, because they do not cover a major portion of the test, and no one in your competition knows about them. They are mostly related to Afghanistan, so focus on the other major portions, and you will succeed.

Pro Tips For Pakistani Students Applying For Kankor Test

The test will be in Pushto, so it will be a bit difficult for you to get an idea from Mcqs completely. I was also facing the same problem. However, I studied for the MDCAT very well, and my concept was clear. So, I applied a trick while solving the Kankor test. For physics, I used to read the units and answer options first; from that, I got an idea of what they wanted in the questions. Same as I did with biology and chemistry. You do not need to understand the question word by word. Just give it a read and underline the important point in the question. Then, brainstorm, and you will find the question very easy.

Those who have studied Biology, Chemistry, and Physics very well for MDCAT do not need to study them separately for the Kankor test. But practice a bit one week before the test from the Kankor past paper. It will also improve your Pushto reading.
